The dogs listed below are spending their final days at OldDog Haven or in one of our wonderful foster homes, surrounded by people who love them, and with lots of canine companions, too. All have been deemed too fragile to be subjected to another change in living conditions, too sick to be rehomed, or with very limited time left with us.

These dogs are being supported in their retirement homes by your donations. Thank you!

If you would like to help, please sponsor one of them. Your sponsorship donation will help defray the costs involved in making a senior dog comfortable. (Please let us know if we have made an error in a sponsorship listing. The dogs help us type sometimes, so... You can email the person who keeps the sponsorships current at dogged @ whidbey.com) (Sponsorships will generally have a date following the listing noting the month in which the sponsorship expires. If the dog you are sponsoring dies -- or is adopted -- we will move your sponsorship to another dog. If you would like it changed, please email us at the dogged address above.)

(We are an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Contributions to us are tax-deductible.) The costs involved in caring for one of our senior dogs include medication, vet visits, special diets, and the euthanasia procedure when quality of life has diminished.

There are sometimes dogs already in our system -- or with their owners -- who need a home for the rest of their lives but are truly geriatric or have special medical needs. They will not be able to stay alone for an entire workday, they may require extra care and they may not be with you long. The rewards are great if you have the right situation! In August 2008 a huge cataract had subluxated forward, and our opthamologist said that produces lots of pain; it also predisposes to glaucoma and often leads to a detached retina.
