“Hi! Have you ever heard of a Xoloitzcuintli? Many people have not but guess what? That’s what I am, but I am a coated variety, more rare than the hairless ones. We come from Mexico.  I am a 10 year old girl named Yoli. I was bred and sold to a man as a puppy. Sadly, he passed away last year. When he died, I went back to my breeder. She is an elderly lady now and cannot care for me so I’ve been living in an outdoor kennel run. She has tended to my physical needs but I am longing for attention and companionship.  Living in the kennel has meant less time for exercise so I’ve put on some weight. Currently I weigh 55 pounds. I’m hoping to find an adopter who will take me out for daily walks and help me get back to my best, fit self!

“I would thrive as an only dog but if you have a large male dog already, I believe I could live with one. My breed is known to be protective of our humans so the male dog would need to be submissive, my personality is alpha! I would do very well with someone who is dog savvy and will continue with my training. I have been well trained in the past. I have great house manners and I walk very well on leash.

“A home with cats would not work for me. No one knows if I’ve ever been around kids but I do like people. So if your kids are older, maybe 10 years and up? Perhaps they would appreciate a dog like me? I really enjoy being around people and am so lonely right now.

“I would prefer an active lifestyle, getting out for hikes and adventures. I am an excellent alert/watch dog. I will bark to let you know someone has arrived to our home. I am very attentive and eager to please. I just can’t wait to find my new home and live inside again!

“My breeder (who is my current owner) took me to the vet to have me checked out recently and all was good except one liver elevation. This is not uncommon in dogs as we age so she’s started me on a liver supplement that will help. She will share all of my vet information with potential adopters and wants you to know I’ve had a recent dental. Of course my adopter should be able to afford and keep up with my veterinary care and grooming for the rest of my days. This way, we can stay together longer! My hope is that my next home will be my true forever home. I am a loving, loyal girl who is waiting for a second chance!”

Yoli is located in Selah, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org

This is a courtesy post. Yoli is not an Old Dog Haven dog. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
