Papaya’s zest for life puts him in a league of his own! When there’s nothing much going on he’s happy to kick back and just keep you company – or burrow down under his blanket and enjoy some ZZZs. But bring out his leash, or invite him for a car ride, and OH BOY he is one happy guy! Papaya is a Chihuahua / Dachshund mix, in good health apart from being fairly deaf. He weighs a cuddly 14 pounds. His rescuers estimate him to be around eight years old. He has been neutered and microchipped and is up to date on shots.

Papaya loves people and is quick to make friends, and he gets on well with other dogs of all sizes. He’s lived several years with chickens and ducks and ignores them, and we’d expect him to do fine with a confident, dog-savvy cat. Nothing fazes this confident, curious boy – he just knows the world is an interesting place and he’s all about experiencing it to the full! He walks well on a leash – well, he does pull a bit because the Nose wants to GO – and his recall is excellent provided he can see your hand gestures. He is reliably house-trained and crate-trained – although he’s so good he really doesn’t need to be crated.

Papaya is posted for Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team. He is located in Kennewick, Eastern Washington. Papaya certainly sounds well worth a road trip – although if necessary the rescue will transport him to an approved adoptive home in the Pacific Northwest. Papaya’s adoption fee is $285 – please contact them at HearthfireART@gmail.com to request an adoption application form.

This is not an Old Dog Haven dog. Old Dog Haven has not assessed this dog for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
