Bailey, an American Eskimo, came into a shelter as a very old lady, at 15 they knew she wouldn’t be adoptable and weren’t able to cover her medical care any longer. Her foster mom was willing to remain as her Final Refuge home as Bailey moved to ODH’s care. Now about 18 years old, Bailey’s heart disease is still moderate, the stiffness in her hips and back has increased but she’s still quite mobile on medication, her cough is still being treated, and all the other “old lady” issues are progressing slowly. We know the time is coming but for now Bailey is a happy girl who is comfortable and loved. Update: Bailey’s frail old body came to the end of her very long life, still a happy girl but very tired. She left surrounded by her family and is remembered with a smile. Bailey died August 2015.
