8 year old Bear is believed to be a terrier mix but his personality is described as being more like a cat! He weighs 30 pounds. Bear had been posted on Craigslist by his owner who said, “Someone take this dog or he will be euthanized. He’s 8 years old, deaf, and having too many accidents in the house.” A kind woman picked him up, took him home, and gave him a safe place to hang out so he could find a forever home. Full disclosure: He has had NOT ONE accident while living with her. Bear’s house manners are impeccable. He is reliably potty trained, non-destructive and quiet. His foster is not sure he’s completely deaf.

Bear is calm in unfamiliar surroundings. He is polite to adults and is non-reactive to cats and other dogs, and is comfortable around respectful children. Bear is a super-calm, undemanding little guy who comes across as aloof until he decides you’re someone special. He’s easy to be around; he minds his manners, does what he’s told, and isn’t needy. Given time, patience, and a quiet home with predictable routines, the thought is he may open up some and become more of a snuggler, and also more playful.

This little guy has been rattled around a bit, and he’s hoping for a really-truly-forever home with someone calm, kind and easy-going. He’s not especially demanding, and will happily spend hours perched on the back of the couch next to a window or sitting out in the yard, just watching the world go by. He loves going for walks and car rides, and would be a great companion on road trips.

Bear is posted for Hearthfire Animal Rescue Team. He is living in a foster home in Kennewick, WA.
