Bernadette (Bernie) came into our care after she had spent 5 months at the shelter, where she’d been found as a stray in terrible condition and was never claimed by her people. She was spayed and given lots of care for her skin. When they discovered she had cancer that had metastasized ODH found a short-term hospice home for her…but nobody told Bernie she was sick! She is doing great with only maintenance for her skin issues and is full of life. Bernie loves all people and does great with her dog friends. When you meet her she will lean into you and growl – a happy growl that is more like a purr! She will insist that you keep on petting her and nobody can resist. Bernie loves riding in the car, snuggling up with people, and snacks! She is the best and we hope she is around for a long time.

Update:  Bernie’s “short hospice foster” turned into a very happy 18 months with her ODH family.   The cancer that we expected to metastasize showed up in many organs and she couldn’t hide it any longer.    She had a great personality that always made her ODH mom smile, and is     remembered with love.
