Buffy was surrendered to a shelter in December 2021 covered in fleas and missing most of the hair on the lower half of her little body. She was estimated to be about 14 years old. A wonderful shelter volunteer and friend of ODH fostered her for a few weeks until a final refuge home could be found. Once her new family agreed to take her, Buffy was in her new home within 24 hours.

During her first few months as an ODH dog, Buffy had over 15 appointments at 4 different veterinary clinics. She was diagnosed with double ear infections, rotting teeth, dry eye, two mammary masses/tumors, and hypothyroidism. After two months of medicated baths, her fur started to grow back in. She had a successful surgery to remove her two mammary masses and then another successful dental surgery to repair two fistulas and remove most of her teeth. Buffy was the best patient and everyone fell in love with her sweet and patient nature.

Buffy now lives with another senior dog and four cats. She is very easygoing and friends with everyone but likes her dog friend, Gina, and Joji the cat the best. She’s often found sharing a bed and snuggling with one of them. Buffy now enjoys walks around the neighborhood and exploring new places. Her favorite place to walk is the park near her house where she can sit on a blanket and people watch. Everyone who meets her comments on what a sweet chihuahua she is and how lucky her foster family is to have her – and they couldn’t agree more!

Buffy recently celebrated her 1 year anniversary as an ODH final refuge dog on January 8, 2023. Her foster family is so grateful to Old Dog Haven and all of our donors and supporters who gave Buffy the home she deserves for her golden years.
