What a GORGEOUS girl Cali is! This 9 year old, 65 pound German Shepherd is described as a gentle giant. Her owner says “Behind her powerful bark and strong stature is a submissive and sweet lady.”

Cali has lived with other dogs before. She can be very curious when meeting a new dog but once settled down she’ll become appropriately social. Cali has lived with cats. While she’s never lived with children, she has done fine with those she’s met who are respectful and kind.

We are told that Cali doesn’t need much exercise. What she does need is a home with a fenced yard. Ideally she will have room to roam in her new yard as she loves to play outside. While Cali is great with other dogs off leash, she doesn’t appreciate dogs behind her fence or when she’s on leash and she sees another dog. This is a very common behavior in dogs and we imagine with some gentle training, Cali could learn better manners.

This sweetheart is accustomed to spending most of her time indoors unless she wants or needs to go outside. Cali can manage quite a while without a potty break. However if she gets excited or is scolded, she may have an accident; we are told this is only on occasion but one needs to be aware of that. Cali needs a home where she will have a consistent potty schedule. She can manage stairs and she does well on long car rides.

Cali does bark when someone comes to the door but she is only alerting her people, not being aggressive. She has been known to scavenge for food when left home alone but has never gotten up on furniture or tables. Cali loves her toys. Doesn’t she sound like a wonderful girl?

Cali does have EPI, which is Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. She takes an enzymatic powder with every meal. Her adopter must be committed to continuing this for her health as well as committing to her veterinary care and diet needs for the rest of her days. Cali’s owner just had her checked out by their veterinarian and bloodwork was good! This information will be shared with potential adopters.

If you’re looking for a lovely companion who will be loyal and loving, Cali is your girl! She needs to find an adoptive home soon. Cali is located in Seattle, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
