Hold onto your hat! Here’s Charlie, a fantastic retriever mix ready to be your best friend forever.
At 10 years old, Charlie weighs about 100 pounds. This is a big boy with a big heart!

Charlie has lived with another dog and is social when meeting new dogs. He will “get sad” when another dog isn’t nice to him. Charlie has lived with cats and children too. He’s a gentle giant who deserves a gentle home.
Charlie loves road trips and being part of his family’s activities.

As one would expect, his eyesight and hearing are not as sharp as they once were. Reportedly, he has “sensitive ears”; this could mean he needs regular care of those terrific looking ears to keep them pain free. While he has not had a senior check up, he is up to date on vaccines. Charlie’s adopter needs to be prepared to give him the veterinary care and good quality dog food he will need for life.

At this time Charlie can manage a bit before needing a potty break. He can do stairs now but  as he ages that may become more difficult. One must always remember, a big dog won’t be carried up and downstairs easily. Planning for a dog’s  future needs is so important!

Charlie is a good boy who behaves well when left inside his home. We are told he had formerly been an “outside dog” with another family and Charlie was quite unhappy with that. He will bark when he’s excited. Charlie loves hanging out on the couch. He appreciates a daily walk. Charlie will pull on leash sometimes so his leash skills should be worked on. A “no pull” harness could help too but one needs to be able to manage his size and strength while out and about.

This fellow sounds like a fun dog who is going to make a terrific addition to a home. Charlie is in need of an adoptive home soon.

Charlie is located in Silverdale, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org

This is a courtesy post. Charlie is not an Old Dog Haven dog. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
