Meet Chata, an 8-year-old, 55-pound spayed female pitbull mix.

“I am a very sweet girl who likes to relax on the couch (or bed if you need someone to keep you warm!). I have perfect manners inside the house, am potty trained and only bark if something startles me or I see a stranger coming up to the house. I am GREAT with kids, men and women — my foster home had an 11 year old girl and 14 year old boy who would love on me all the time. My previous owner says I shouldn’t live with cats, and actually I’d probably prefer to be the only pet. I like to snuggle, be rubbed and scratched. I’ll sleep all day if given the chance. I like to go for walks but am a little bit of a tenderfoot (I don’t really like puddles, mud or squishy ground). It won’t take me long to get used to being walked in the “elements” but I will need someone who can train me a little on how to act when I see other dogs. I am very strong and curious when I see other dogs go by so I need a strong person holding the leash. I am crate trained but also do just fine for 8-9 hours a day just lounging on the couch or doggy bed. If you don’t want me on the couch, you will need to teach that to me. My foster family says I smell good but gave me a bath anyway . . . it wasn’t my favorite thing but it felt great when I was all done. I didn’t fuss at all in the tub, just wanted it to be over with. The little white hair on the tip of my tail is VERY fascinating and sometimes I will chase it, around and around, and around! Looking for a low-maintenance relationship? I will not disappoint you! Stop by the shelter to visit me today – tell ’em you are here to fall in love with Chata!”
