Little Danny is – well, we don’t know what!  The shelter said Yorkie-poo but he has the bowed front legs of a Lhasa, the head of a Chi (once we got all the matted hair off him after he arrived), the thick coat of a Pom, and the wonderful snoring noises of a Shih Tzu.  He is a Gremlin, for sure.  Danny moves like a little wind-up toy but is DETERMINED to follow his ODH mom and the pack around the big pasture, no matter how long it may take him (with sniffing delays, of course).  He came to us very obese but now weighs a healthy 9 pounds and is quite happy being carried around or sharing his mom’s pillow.

Speaking of Gremlins, kudos to the vet technicians who have seen a different dog–one who is determined not to have a blood draw. We are sure that eventually his vet team will win, but he sure puts up a spirited defense! Recently we’ve noticed a head tilt that seems to be evidence of a stroke, and we monitor his liver values and severely collapsed trachea. Despite these health challenges, spunky Danny remains active and outgoing and we grin every time we look at him!

Update:  After ruling the roost for a wonderfully long time, Danny’s health finally failed and his loving foster mom and dad had to say good-bye.  He had overcome all his health challenges for so long and was truly a force to be reckoned with – just ask his vets!  For such a very small pup, he had a very large presence and is greatly missed.
