Little Danny is – well, we don’t know what! The shelter said yorkie-poo but he has the bowed front legs of a lhasa, the head of a chi (once we got all the hair off him), the thick coat of a pom, and the wonderful snoring noises of a shih tzu. A gremlin, for sure. He moves like a little wind-up toy but is DETERMINED to follow his mom and the pack around the big pasture, no matter how long it may take him. (With sniffing delays, of course.) He came to us very obese but now weighs 9 pounds and is happy being carried around or sharing mom’s pillow.
The vet technicians, however, have seen a different dog who is equally determined not to have a blood draw. So far in three tries the score is Danny 2, humans 1…. We are sure that eventually 3-5 humans will be able to overpower him. Recently we’ve noticed a head tilt that seems to be evidence of a stroke, but he’s still active and outgong. Meanwhile, we watch his liver and his severely collapsed trachea and grin every time we look at him.
