“My name is Dexter and you’re reading about me because I find myself needing a home. I’m not sure why my last person left me. She adopted me from a shelter a few years ago. I tried my very best to be a good boy for her. I’m glad she left me with people who have kept me until they could find a good home. I’m really hoping it’ll be the last time I have to move-EVER!

“I’m a 10 year old boy. They say I’m a chihuahua mix. I’m not a tiny dog, I weigh about 11 pounds. I live with other dogs now and I’m mostly fine with them. If I had my choice, I’d prefer dogs who are mature like myself as young dogs can be annoying sometimes. I can live peacefully with cats. Small kids make me nervous, especially when they want to pick me up. I think kids 10 years old and over are safer.

“At this time I spend the day in my crate while my caregivers are away. It’s a long day to wait in a crate and I’d hope in my new home I’d not have to stay in there so long. I’m so good about “holding it” while I’m in my crate but as I get older, I will need more frequent potty breaks. Older dogs are much like older people!

“I don’t expect a lot of exercise but I do enjoy getting out for a walk. Who doesn’t? It’s not only good for the body, it’s good for the mind. I am very well behaved on leash. I enjoy the company of women over men. No offense to men! I’m not an obnoxious barker but I will bark to let you know when someone comes to the house but I will stop barking once you tell me to.

“No one knows when I last saw a vet, I can’t recall. Like most dogs, I’m not asking to go to the vet but it would be in my best interest to have an adopter who can afford to take me to one and afford my vet care for the rest of my days. My caregivers will tell you I’m not showing any signs of being sick. I feel good, I act like a happy boy. Now I just need to find the person who  I can share the rest of my life with.”

Dexter is located in Tenino, WA.

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
