Meet Eleanor Rigby, one of the newest recipients of the Maranda Fund generosity! Eleanor is a youthful and spunky terrier (perhaps a Silky mix) and therefore was an excellent candidate for the fund set up to help dogs with a good life expectancy benefit from major procedures. She was surrendered to a shelter with severe skin allergies, urinary tract infection and infected ears. It was determined that from years of chronic ear infections, no medications could get down her ear canals to help the awful discomfort she must have been in – the canals had grown shut. The only solution was to have her ear canals removed via bilateral ablation – which is a very tricky and extensive surgery, not to mention costly. This procedure was performed by an excellent surgeon and was very successful! Eleanor will never have another ear infection in her life! The urinary tract infection is long gone and she is being carefully monitored by a dermatologist to keep her skin and itching under control. A dog with allergies this severe goes through life feeling miserable, but no longer for Eleanor! She is now the number one terrier in her neighborhood (she tells everyone so), enjoys her walks immensely and is a very sweet, loving and active dog. Eleanor thanks everyone for their support!

Update:  Sweet Eleanor had a wonderfully long time in her Final Refuge home.  She received all the love one little dog could ask for and it was with great sadness that her Mom had to let her go after a sudden illness.
