“Well, Hello! My name is Elias. 3 years ago I was adopted from a shelter. My person loved me and cared for me up until very recently when she became unable to take care of me. She had to go to a place where dogs aren’t allowed. Thankfully her nice family said they’d take me in and try to find a home for me where I would never have to be re-homed ever again.

“The shelter said I was a Chiweenie. This means a mix of a chihuahua and a dachshund. No one knows for sure how accurate that is, it’s a guess! But I have lovely coloring, don’t I? The guess is that I’m between 10-11 years old and I weigh between 10-12 pounds. Don’t hold me to that weight though! I like my treats and I think currently I may be a little overweight. I do tricks for treats! Getting me to a vet for a checkup and getting any shots I need should be on the “to do” list when I’m adopted.

“I love LOVE walks and getting outside. I really hope my new family will take me out every day for a good walk. I get so happy when I walk that I skip! I behave well on leash and I don’t bark much. I am a very good boy. I can handle stairs fine and manage quite a while before I need a potty break

“I became accustomed to having my person around-this happens when your person is a senior. It’s nice when I have company but in the long run, it’s healthier for us dogs to learn that we can and will be OK when our human leaves the house. Since I’ve lived with other dogs and done well with friendly dogs, a home with another dog that stays home with me when our person leaves the house could help me adapt.

“I have not been observed around cats so I can’t say for sure that I’d be OK with them. I have been good with gentle children. I see myself as a great family dog. I’m a good size for bringing along on trips and adventures.

“I am an active boy who will thrive with a more active lifestyle than I had previously. I’m not ancient by any means! I hope to live for many years to come. I didn’t get to stay in my last home for very long so I’m hoping the next home will be forever.”
