Hester was, we guess, a chow/shar-pei mix. She tottered into a busy shelter and then to an ODH home that loves chows and tried very hard to make her body comfortable. She gained a great deal of confidence with patience and kindness; perhaps she’d not had that in a long time. Despite much effort, vet visits, acupuncture treatments and medication, Hester was still suffering from much pain. A neurology consult and MRI found intervertebral disc disease and likely spinal cord disease or a brain tumor. With no more options for treatment, it was not fair to her to continue – her ODH mom wishes she had much more time with her, but is glad that her last months were filled with love and security.
