Jasper was, we think, a pug/schipperke mix. The shelter noticed signs of the neurologic deficits which so many older pugs suffer from, so he went to an ODH home that knew the breed well. There, feeling safe and welcome, he was a live wire! Happy and lively, active and loving, he thoroughly enjoyed himself for nearly a month. When he suddenly became extremely ataxic and confused, his ODH family recognized the symptoms that plague the pug breed and took him to emergency. Nothing could be done to help him. Despite sadness over the sudden loss, we are so glad that he had this time to be loved and enjoy life. Jasper died December 18, 2014.
