Kahlo

Kahlo is a happy 10-year-old Catahoula Hound mix who weighs 50 pounds. Look at those spots, isn’t he handsome? Kahlo is known as the “one-eared wonder” because one of his ears is partially gone. It does not affect his hearing! Kahlo is described as a dog with “sweet golden eyes and a personality that is equal parts spunky, awkward, and charming.”

Kahlo is in need of a home without other dogs. He has visited homes where there are cats, and he has been fine with them. Kahlo does not appreciate puppies or young children. His owners believe he would do well in a home with kids aged 12 and older.

Kahlo quickly warms up to new people. Not only is he friendly, Kahlo is also smart. Because he is very food-motivated, training has gone well with his family. Kahlo knows basic commands (sit, stay, down, circle, go to your spot), and he is recall trained to come when called. Kahlo enjoys playing with treat puzzles and toys.

After his morning potty break, Kahlo can manage quite a while before needing another potty break. He is good at staying alone in his home without a problem, but one needs to give him time to acclimate to his new home and a new schedule (as you would with any dog). Kahlo barks when he spots someone approaching his house or sometimes when new people arrive at his home. We are told he will stop barking quickly, but one must keep in mind that he will bark, and if that could upset a neighbor, Kahlo may not be a good match for your home.

Kahlo’s adopter should be able and willing to provide him with lifelong veterinary care, as well as good quality food and dental care.

Daily walks are enjoyable with Kahlo, and he is accustomed to having 2-3 walks a day. He has a great nose, enjoys time to sniff, and while he may pull a little, he has had training that one can continue to work on with him. Kahlo can manage stairs without issue at this time. Kahlo can be active, but he is also an expert at chilling out on the couch or any cozy spot. He loves to cuddle up with his people and would love to find a home where he can continue sharing the bed with his humans. That is not a deal breaker, just a wish from a boy who is certainly going to make a great addition to his adoptive home.

Kahlo is located in Seattle, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org
