Keela is a pretty, 8 year old beagle/german shepherd mix. That’s an interesting mix, right? Keela weighs 45 pounds.  She’s a sensitive girl who would prefer not to share her home with other animals. She has met dogs and made friends with them but new dogs overwhelm her. Perhaps a dog savvy owner could successfully integrate her to a home with another friendly, passive dog?

Keela has lived with kids and done very well with them however, a home with kids who are old enough to be gentle with her would be best. Keela does very well on leash for her daily walks. Keela is said to be a well-trained girl. She know basic commands and even some fun tricks. Stairs are not easy for Keela because she’d suffered a broken leg and had to have surgery for it. As a result, one leg is shorter than the other.

Keela can go quite a while without needing a potty break. An “accident” from during her spay surgery caused her to leak but daily medication has solved this problem.- Keela has been a good girl to stay alone for a work day.

Currently Keela takes a medication for anxiety to keep her from being too anxious when she comes into contact with the many dogs in her apartment complex. The thought is that in a new home where she won’t have to go out and see other dogs every day, multiple times a day, she’d not need the medication anymore. The medication is sedating so there’s the possibility that once she no longer needs it she will have more energy.

Keela is a sweet, loving girl who loves to give and receive affection. She will literally roll into you when she’s happy and excited from getting pets. Keela has been re-homed so many times, it’s heartbreaking really. Her people tell us she won’t venture far away as she seems afraid to be left behind.  Keela really needs a forever home with someone who will commit to her for the rest of her days.

Keela is waiting for her adopter in Mountlake Terrace, WA.

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
