This pretty girl’s name is Kira. She is a 50 pound mixed breed dog who is almost 13 years old.

Kira is described as “an amazing family dog; so sweet, cuddly and good with kids!” At this point in her life Kira needs a home with gentle children as well as friendly and mellow feline and canine friends. Kira is a social girl who has done well with all beings, we are told that everyone loves Kira!
Like most dogs her age, Kira’s eyesight is not as sharp as it once was. Kira has arthritis but is not currently taking anything for that. She does need an adopter who can afford her vetting. We always recommend an adopter get their “new” old dog checked out by their vet upon adoption. Kira should have a senior blood panel and urinalysis along with an exam to get the best picture of her overall health.
While Kira can currently do stairs, because of her age and arthritis, it may be in the future they could become difficult. One must take that into consideration since she will not be easily carried, given her size. She enjoys walks twice a day and we are told she does well on leash. Kira enjoys a game of fetch but can’t do it as long as she used to. Hanging out on the couch or around her people is where she spends her downtime.
This girl only barks to let you know she wants to come back inside after going out to do her business. Kira can reportedly manage quite awhile before she needs a potty break and she has done fine staying home alone as needed. As we always recommend with adoptions, Kira should be shown patience to allow time to settle in and learn her new routine in her new home. Wouldn’t we all hope to receive this consideration when undergoing a major life change?
