Who wouldn’t want to welcome Max into their family?? Said to be “the sweetest dog in the world!”, this 100 pound fellow is an 8 year old yellow lab mix. He is friendly with EVERYONE! Max loves people. He enjoys the company of other dogs, cats and children who will be gentle to him. Max is described as ” a very happy and obedient dog”. He is happiest when he is with his people, enjoying time with them and good belly rubs.

We are told that Max is good on leash and that he’d really appreciate a home where he gets out for more walks than he has been able to in the past few months. Daily walks could help Max lose a little of the extra weight he’s carrying, help keep his joints healthy and give him time to appreciate all the sights, smells and sounds the outdoors has to offer.

Max doesn’t appreciate many stairs to climb. This could be because of his weight or it could be because of the common issue older dogs have with peripheral vision. Whatever the reason, it’d be best for Max not to need to climb many stairs in his new home. Max has wonderful house manners and can stay alone inside the house without any issue, managing quite a few hours before he needs a potty break.

As with any adoption, we ask potential adopters to recognize whether the cost of vet care is something you can manage. Max is a young senior. He needs an adopter who can afford his care for the rest of his days. He also requires regular bathing and grooming to keep his skin and coat healthy. This is a big boy so one should be able to physically manage his size.

Max is currently living in a kennel as his owner can no longer keep him and extended family cannot take him into their home. No doubt Max would like to leave the kennel and make his way to a committed, forever home soon. Someone is going to be very lucky to make Max a part of their family!

Max is located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
