Sweet Maybel came to us with her “sister” Thelma after they both landed up at the shelter. Like so many of the seniors Old Dog Haven is asked to help, we don’t know how these two ended up at the shelter but it was obvious to us that they’d lost a person that had loved them. Maybel and Thelma were bonded and so well behaved— they came to us fully pee pad trained and when they joined our family, they kindly taught our resident terrier to use the pee pad, too!
Unfortunately, Thelma had some serious health problems and we only had her for a little more than two months before she passed in her sleep, right next to Maybel. They had been wonderful companions for each other in life and we were so happy to have been able to provide them with a Final Refuge home together until Thelma’s passing.
Maybel is now on a special diet for kidney issues and she is being monitored for a prolapsed trachea but neither of these health challenges dampens her sweet nature. She charms everyone she meets—her tongue-hanging smile is sure hard to resist!
