Big handsome Mic, seemingly an australian shepherd mix, came from the shelter as a “hot mess” – his skin and coat were in terrible shape. Over 2-1/2 years in his ODH home much effort was made to make him healthy, and most of his coat came back. Along the way he was diagnosed with Cushings disease but treatment proved very difficult, and no doubt the disease was partially to blame for his recurrent skin infections. When his small chronic cough became much worse he saw an internal medicine specialist for extensive tests. The diagnosis was laryngeal paralysis with bronchial damage complicating things. Efforts at medical treatment failed and Mic was allowed to end his struggle. He was loved a great deal and loved his ODH family right back. Mic died June of 2015.
