Nelly, who is probably a chocolate Lab/Shar-Pei mix, came into our care as a potentially adoptable dog after she was dropped off at a busy shelter by her owners of 10 years. She was in terrible condition, but as we were treating her many issues it was discovered that she has advanced osteosarcoma, a primary bone tumor. We don’t expect her to have a lot of time left, but we will manage her pain for as long as she is happy. Nelly loves all people and the other dogs in her foster home. She gives kisses and wags with her whole body! We feel good that Nelly will be loved and happy for the rest of her time.Nelly’s cancer became too painful way sooner than we hoped; we sent her on her way knowing that her last 3 months were happy, comfortable, and surrounded with friends and love.
