“Hi, I’m Oliver! I’m an 11 year old shepherd mix in need of a true forever home. I weigh about 40 pounds, which I think is a good size; not too small, not too big.

“The reason I need a new home is because I’m not a fan of young kids. Up until 4 years ago, I had a home without them and life was great.  Now I like to herd the youngsters and to be honest,  I recently nipped at one when he was running and screaming by me.  I would NEVER do this to an adult! My humans know this about me as they adopted me when I was just a young pup.  I can get a little bothered when restrained at the vet but they know how to handle that as many dogs aren’t happy when they go to the vet!

“You probably guessed I shouldn’t go to a home where there are cats. I have been good with some dogs when I’m properly introduced to them. I live with a dog now and we do fine with each other.

“A puppy or young active dog who wants to play or get in my face won’t be enjoyable. I prefer mellow and calm. I’m a pretty chill dude, I enjoy hanging out where my people are but I’m not super needy.

“I love to play fetch and I LOVE belly rubs! I will behave well on leash but do get excited when I see another dog. This could be something my new human could work with me on, they should be able to manage my size too. I can do stairs and I’m not a barky dog. I bark when there’s a good reason for it. I can manage quite a bit before I need a potty break but who wants to hold it for a very long time?? As I get older, I hear it may be harder to do so, just as it is for humans.

“My people will tell you that I am super loving and loyal once I get to know you. I’m shy at first so I’ll need time to adjust to a new home with new people but I think I’m worth the effort. Please keep in mind how much we dogs love our people and how it can be confusing when we have to leave them. This can be especially difficult when we’ve had the same family for most of our lives. This is going to be hard for me and my adult humans but life changes and for my happiness, I need a new home.”
