Roscoe and Delta
A love bug and a loyal cuddler
Here are two black beauties looking for an adoptive home! Delta is an 8 year old German Shepherd who is currently overweight at 122 pounds (she needs help to shed some weight!). Her best buddy Roscoe is a 9 year old German Shepherd who weighs 107 pounds. The hope is that these friends can remain together but if a home can be found for each, separately, we are told their owner will allow it.
This pair would be happiest in a new home without other dogs. They have lived with cats and children, doing just fine. Roscoe is described as “A love bug who enjoys meeting new people. He wants to be your best friend!” Delta is said to be “sweet, loyal, cuddly and she listens well.”
They will bark when people come to the house so you will have an alert system!
Roscoe and Delta have always lived inside the house, needing mid-day potty breaks. They are kennel trained and accustomed to staying in their kennels when their humans leave for work. One should only consider taking them in if they can provide them with the potty breaks they need. When their humans are home, they are out of the kennel enjoying their family and fenced yard. At night Roscoe sleeps on an ottoman, Delta will lay on the floor or sleep in her open kennel.
While they can both do stairs now one must keep in mind a home with many stairs could be hard for them in the future. They are not dogs who can be carried up and down the stairs. While Roscoe does not appear to have arthritis per his people, Delta does as she displays pain in her hips. With gentle weight loss, more exercise and joint supplement/possible pain medication (if needed), she could move better.
Recently the pair went to the vet for checkups. They were vaccinated. Both dogs would benefit from a dental. Delta has a mass that was checked and we are told the vet believes it is a cyst. Roscoe and Delta need an adopter who can afford their lifelong veterinary care and have more time for them. We are told they like to play fetch so we’d imagine walks could be fun for them as well!
While no one wants to separate a bonded pair the reality is, that finding an adopter for 2 large dogs in a short period of time (a month in this case) will be difficult. If you can’t adopt one or both, will you please share Delta and Roscoe’s need to find an adoptive home?
Delta and Roscoe are located in Vancouver, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org
This is a courtesy post. Delta and Roscoe are not Old Dog Haven dogs. Old Dog Haven has not assessed these dogs for medical issues and will not be responsible for medical care after adoption. We urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
