“Why hello! I’m Rosie. My person tells me that I am a pretty girl, a dachshund mix. I am black, tan and white. I weigh 16 pounds. My person adopted me as a puppy and now I am 11 years old. She is very sad that her life is changing and she can no longer keep me. Will you help me find a home with someone I can remain with for the rest of my life?

“I had a traumatic experience with a big dog who attacked me and since then, I have wanted to stay FAR away from big dogs. I can be around dogs my size or smaller. If they will leave me alone, I would prefer that. I have never been aggressive with my dogs my size and I guess if I had to, I could live with one.  I do like cats!  So if you have a home with a cat who’d like a canine buddy, I may be your gal! I have been fine with children who are kind and respectful.

“At my age and energy level, I’m by no means “ancient”! Maybe more middle-aged? I guess you can see it in my eyes and they are looking a little bit older but I still run around and play just like a youngster. I do a happy dance whenever my person comes back home. It always makes her laugh and smile. I can manage stairs fine and while I like to jump, my person is very careful about not allowing me to jump from too tall so I don’t hurt my back. I walk well on leash and would love more time to go for walks when I move to my forever home.

“A few years back I had some teeth pulled. Since then I have eaten soft food. I do need to see a vet once I’m adopted for shots and a check-up as my person hasn’t been able to do that for me.

“At night I like to cuddle in bed with my person. I hope that can be continued in my new home. It’s so nice to have someone to keep warm! I am dog door trained which is helpful in the potty department. Of course, at night the dog door is closed for my safety. I will bark when I hear noises-just in case you didn’t hear them. I will stop barking when I am told. When I’m left at home I will bark some. I don’t think it’s excessive but if that could bother your neighbor, I don’t want you to get into trouble, I may not be the right dog for you.

“If you will show me love and time to learn the ropes, I will try to be the best dog and you will wonder how you ever lived without me!”
