Rusty is a sweet 10-year-old Shih Tzu & Poodle mix lovebug. It’s unbelievable what all he has gone through and can still be so loving! About five years ago, he was hit by a car and unfortunately, the choice was made by his family to not properly fix it; instead they put a temporary cast on him and placed him on the roof of their flat-top home with their other dog. (Confused? So are we!) Then, in November of 2017, he was diagnosed with diabetes after going into a diabetic coma. At that point, the owners did not want the expense of his medical costs and said they would “just take him out to the farm to take care of him.” Surrendering him to rescue was the best thing that could’ve happened to Rusty.  Rusty was obese but has slimmed down, helping him to feel better. His medication is actually quite inexpensive and easy to give. As you can see in this video, Rusty is food motivated and will gladly let you give him his insulin in exchange for a treat!

Rusty enjoys being with people, is very cuddly, enjoys car rides, and is still an active little guy! Just a few weeks ago, Rusty had to have that leg amputated since it was never fixed correctly and causing problems for him. We are happy to say that being a tri-pod has not phased this little guy! He also had a dental done, is neutered, and up to date on vaccinations. Rusty does well with small dogs. He is being fostered with 7 other dogs but the large dogs are not his favorite.

If you welcome this little guy into your home, you will wonder how you ever lived without him! If you are interested in adopting Rusty, please fill out Lucky Paws Rescue’s application:  http://www.luckypawsrescuewa.org/adoption-form/

He is currently being fostered in the Olympia, WA area.

If you would like to know more about him please feel free to contact Terry at luckydog115@gmail.com or 253-299-6044.

Thank you so much for wanting to adopt a rescue dog!

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
