8 year old Sofie is 13 pound dachshund/bichon mix. What an interesting mix of breeds, isn’t she cute? We are told that Sofie is playful, affectionate and FUN!

Sofie has lived with other dogs before and she is appropriately social with new dogs. Sofie loves playing with other small dogs. We are told that Sofie has lived with cats and at first she got a little “excited” about the cats but with time and careful monitoring, Sofie accepted them as part of her pack. Sofie prefers older kids, teenagers who are dog savvy.

Sofie has had urinary stones in the past. Because of this, she is on an Rx diet and she needs to be regularly monitored for a recurrence in bladder stones. Bladder stones are not only very painful, they can be deadly, they are nothing to take lightly. Sofie’s adopter must be willing and able to keep her on her current diet and be committed to vet care for the rest of her days. Sofie is a young senior, one would hope she could have a long lifespan in a loving home with good care.

Sofie has been OK to stay alone for periods of time when her person needs to run errands but she doesn’t appreciate being left alone for long periods of time. Sofie is dog door trained. She cannot manage stairs because of a luxating patella. Sofie enjoys playing in her fenced yard and going for daily walks.  She responds to verbal commands while on leash. Her owner tells us that Sofie would not do well living in an apartment or condominium.

Sofie is in need of an adoptive home very soon. A home with someone who likes to cuddle on the couch at night and share the bed with Sofie will make her happiest as that is what she is accustomed to doing. She loves to snuggle under the covers. This sweet and loving girl will make a great buddy!

Sofie is posted for her owner, she is located in Marysville, WA. For contact information, please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org
