8 year old Sonny is an ADORABLE sheltie mix who weighs about 30 pounds. Sonny is looking for an adoptive home with someone who can and will afford his lifelong veterinary care. Sonny needs care for his skin allergies. He is receiving Cytopoint injections which is helping him. Sonny’s adopter should be ready able to afford this and all vetting to keep his skin as healthy as possible to keep him itch-free.

Sonny has lived happily with other friendly dogs. He has never lived with cats but he has done well with kind, respectful children. Reportedly Sonny does well being left alone, needing a potty break every 6 hours or so.  One should remember as with any dog, Sonny should be given time to settle in and know he’s “home” before expecting him to be OK alone for long periods of time. We’d bet Sonny would appreciate the company of another dog when the humans leave the house.

We are told Sonny loves to go on daily long walks. He does pull on leash. It would be helpful if his adopter worked with him on leash manners. Sonny has lots of happy energy.  He loves to chase birds and tries to catch hail and snow when it falls. He can manage stairs just fine.

This sweet boy is not just  fun but loyal too. He has been through a lot of loss and it is our hope this next home will be his final one. We imagine him being a wonderful addition to a family. Sonny needs a committed, forever home that can provide him with lifelong care. How could you not want to share your love, life and home with Sonny?

Sonny is located on Whidbey Island, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
