“Nice to meet you! My name is Tinkerbell. I’m a 10 year old havanese. As you can see, I am a lovely silver girl who weighs 12 pounds.

“Once upon a time, I lived with a breeder. I made puppies for her until I was 5 years old and then she sold me to my person. I lived with her until recently, I was her companion dog. Sadly she has now passed away and I need to find a new home SOON.

“I have not lived with other dogs in the past 5 years. I am a well-behaved girl when meeting nice, friendly dogs. I have not seen a cat ever so I can’t say how I’d react if you have one in your home. Kids can make me nervous, I will shy away from them and hide. I’d much rather have a home without young children as that is not what I’m accustomed to.

“I would love a home with someone who can get me out for regular exercise.  While it’s nice to be a lap dog, I like to play too! Toys can be fun. I like to run and jump and sometimes I will hide my treats and toys so that I can go and find them. It would be fun to have a human who is able to play with me and spend time with me.

“I am used to a potty pad so if the humans have to leave, I will use that. Often pets that belong to older humans aren’t taken outside a lot so we will learn to potty on pads. Sometimes people don’t like that but we can’t help it, it’s what we’ve known!

“When someone comes to the door, I will let you know by barking but aside from that, I am not a barky dog. I love to sit up in a chair or on the couch with my human. I can’t jump up though and really, it’s unsafe for me to jump up and down from furniture because I have short legs. A ramp to get up and down would be nice. I will climb stairs if I have to but I don’t really like to!  I have not been allowed to sleep in the bed with my human. I have slept in my bed in the closet near her. I am a loving girl who really enjoys affection and attention.

“My human has taken me to a vet for my shots and I am spayed. As you can see, I am a dog who will need regular grooming to keep me looking so cute! My new people should be able to commit to my lifelong veterinary care and grooming needs. Because I was a breeding dog I was spayed later in life. This means one will need to keep watch for mammary growths. Even after spaying we girls can develop them after we’ve been allowed to go into multiple heats.  I’ve given a lot to humans my whole life. I hope I’ve earned the right to have a forever home. I need one soon so I’d love your help to find one!”
