Tisch, a pitbull mix, is a beautiful girl of about 10 whose owner recently died.  Tisch was an outside dog, chained up except for some walks and play sessions. Since arriving at the Forget-Me-Not shelter, she is blossoming and has become playful and happy – always smiling! She loves toys and affection and all the people she meets. There were birds (peacocks and chickens), cats, and other dogs at her prior home, and Tisch was pretty good around them; a pug was her particular friend.   She and the shelter’s male juvenile pitbull, Grunt, are very good together.  She is curious but cautious around Annabull, a young and rambunctious female pup. The shelter will do a preliminary cat test to see how she is with cats that don’t run.

Everything on Tisch’s senior blood panel looks great.  She appears to be in good health without major issues with arthritis or other “old dog” common ailments. She should be able to handle a few stairs without problems though stairs for any senior dog will almost certainly become an issue at some point in the future.

Because she has been an outside dog, she is just now beginning to learn the finer points of housetraining. That will continue to improve – in fact, she likely will be pretty much trained prior to adoption, as she is a smart girl and is picking up on all sorts of things quickly.   You will need to be vigilant for the first few weeks home to be sure she learns exactly where to go when she needs a potty break, and how to let you know she needs to go. She enjoys play and is loving having a soft bed and her own squeaky toys.

Tisch seems to like all people and should do fine in homes from a single senior down to a busy family with lots of children. She is a bit of a talker – not a BARKER, as she mostly talks like a husky or similar dog, “woo woo raowww mmmmph woo”.

If you’ve always wanted to rescue a senior dog, Tisch would be a great one to start with – after living the outside life (and in Ferry County, that is a very rugged life in both winter and summer), she is so very grateful for every comfort, and will be a doting and devoted companion for some lucky person or family.

Tisch is posted for the Forget-Me-Not shelter in Republic, WA who offer a 30-day money-back trial adoption period. Can’t come to Republic? Don’t let that stop you! They have monthly transports to both the Seattle area and Spokane, delivering adopted pets to their new owners.

ODH has not met this dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation./
