“Hi Everyone! My name is Waffles. You read that right-Waffles, like the yummy treat you can pour syrup over.  I am about 12 years old and I weigh about 13 pounds. My human says I’m a cairn terrier mixed with a pomeranian. People tell me I’m a cutie, a scruffy adorable boy.  You are meeting me here because I am in need of an adoptive home and very soon.

“I like cats but with other dogs I can get a bit of an attitude. To be honest I can get a little jealous when my human pays attention to others which is why I get an attitude! If someone out there has a dog or cat already and thinks they would like me, I bet with time I could learn to live with other dogs? I have never lived with another dog before so if you have a mellow but nice dog, perhaps close to my size so I don’t feel threatened, I could perhaps adapt? It’s hard when you’ve not been socialized so learn from me, humans! Socialize your dogs because you never know what’s around the corner! I am OK with kids as long as they are older than toddlers and old enough to know to be gentle.

“I have so much to offer someone who is looking for a companion. I love hanging out with my human and keeping their lap warm. If you need to leave the house I don’t freak out, I just wait for your return and hold my potty like a good boy. I’d rather not be left alone for long hours; it’s hard to hold it for a long time and I can get lonely-we dogs thrive with human interaction, it’s really our happiest time! I don’t bark though, well not as much as I used to. I can do stairs and I’m not so big that one couldn’t carry me if they needed to.

“Walks are great fun and we can enjoy them together. I behave when you put my leash on. I am used to going for a walk every day. I don’t expect super long walks, just a few blocks twice a day. It is important for all of us to keep moving-not just dogs but you humans too! I can be your inspiration to get out and move every day.

“My human just took me to the vet and I had a good check up. The one thing I do need is a dental. It seems many of us dogs don’t receive regular dental care and it is to our detriment.   A good teeth cleaning with possible extractions should be provided for me by my new human. Check out your dog’s teeth and care for them. It can extend our lives and help us live more comfortably. Can you imagine if you never brushed your teeth or saw a dentist??

“My hope is that someone will see me and really want me! I am ready to find a home where I’ll be able to stay forever. ”
