Hi! I’m Yubnub!  I found myself in need of a home at the ripe old age of 12 – or maybe it’s 13 – I can’t remember how old I am, exactly.  Anyway, I hung out in a shelter for a while, but couldn’t really find anyone I wanted to go home with – they all wanted me to be able to see out both my eyes and be young and spunky.  Overrated, I say.

With the help of Old Dog Haven, I found a nice home to settle into.  The people I live with are my Final Refuge parents, and they tell me I get to stay forever and never have to worry about finding another home – which is great, because shopping for a good family is a lot of work.  Plus I’m not really a socialite – people stress me out – and this family doesn’t mind if I just stay home and hold down the fort. My ODH mom and dad took me to a lot of appointments in the beginning – I had to a bunch of bad teeth removed, and I had to see a special eye doctor.  They also found out how much I am scared of the groomer.  We have an agreement now – I go see the veterinarian every once in a while for a fancy shave, and I will let the groomer trim my toenails.  I have dry eye, plus glaucoma in one eye, so I must have drops and ointments put in my eyes throughout the day.  I don’t mind too much though, because I get treats whenever this happens!

Thanks to ODH, I don’t have to worry about where my next meal might come from, and I get all the medications I need to keep my eyes healthy and not hurt from arthritis.  I get an awesome forever family that gives me lots of love, and I get to have a ‘normal’ dog life. What’s not to love about that?

Update:  After a wonderfully long time (though never long enough) this remarkable girl finally had to leave her loving family.  She fought through many health challenges and managed to properly ‘run’ her household for several years!  Yubs leaves a very big hole and will be greatly missed by both her mom and dad.
