Every year, hundreds of people participate in Harbor Hounds with dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds. Or, maybe we should say, hundreds of dogs participate with people of all shapes, sizes and breeds.

Harbor Hounds is an opportunity to enjoy a day of fun with neighbors, family and your furry best friend and also give back to the community by supporting the many community charities supported by the Rotary Club of Gig Harbor Midday. This event includes a dog walk, vendors, food trucks, dog agility course, face painting for the kids and even some fun contests to show off your dog’s talents. Categories include: Best Tricks, Best Kisser (the dog!), Best Tail Wagger, Best Dressed and a fun musical Sit and Stay contest.

You can participate as an event sponsor, which provides you an opportunity to set up a tent and promote your organization at Skansie Brothers Park, or you can register your dog for the event and enjoy a leisurely walk along Gig Harbor’s beautiful waterfront. Each registered dog receives a doggie bandana and a wag bag filled with coupons, giveaways, toys and gadgets provided by the participating sponsors.

Calling all dogs and their people! WHS’s annual Dog Days of Summer Festival is back on Sunday, September 13, from 11AM – 3PM. Join us for the most pupular festival in the Pacific Northwest for dogs and their families! At Dog Days, WHS hosts a full slate of canine games & contests, pet-themed vendors and exhibitions, an animal caricaturist, delicious animal-friendly food, a beer garden, and more—it’s a doggone good time for the whole family! Best of all, as always, entrance and admission to the Dog Days of Summer Festival is FREE!

LOCATION: The 9-acre field behind the Whatcom Humane Society Division Street Shelter (2172 Division Street, Bellingham, WA 98226)

We wholeheartedly welcome fall for its brisk winds and autumnal color which serves as a seasonal backdrop for the Skagit Valley Giant Pumpkin Festival on Saturday, September 19th, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This in-person event celebrates agritourism with a Weigh-Off competition for pumpkin-growing hobbyists and giant vegetable growers.  Enjoy this complimentary, family-fun event and a chance to win cash prizes for your giant pumpkin.

Join us for Love a Pit Bull Day and the 2024 Bully Walk! The event will be held at Heritage Park (5th and Water Street lawn) on Saturday, September 21. The bully walk will begin at 10:30 am, and the main event is from 11-2.
