“My name is Clancy and I am in need of an adoptive home. My person has become ill; she is quite old and had to go to a home for people who could no longer take care of themselves. Lucky for me she had family who brought me to their home so I didn’t have to go to a shelter. I have been staying here for a couple of months now but they can’t keep me forever.

“I am a lab mix who weighs 55 pounds. No one is sure of my age but they say I’m about 9-10 years old. I saw a vet and got my shots. He told my family I was overweight and that I need my teeth cleaned. What really bothers me are my ears. They get infected and it hurts when they get cleaned. I will admit I get a little grumpy when my ears are fussed with. I really need help for my ears though. I hope my adopter can afford vet care for me as I’ve not had a lot of that in my life. We older dogs need more care than younger dogs; just as humans do. I imagine with some care for my ears, some weight loss and my teeth cleaned up I’ll feel half my age!

“I live with a puppy now and he annoys me. What I’d prefer is a home with a dog more like me-mellow and more my size. I can get protective over my treats when the puppy comes along. Who can blame me? He’s faster than I am and I want to make sure he doesn’t steal from me! There are cats here and I’m great with them. I have done well with older kids, age 7 and up. We had some kids visit recently and I loved the attention they gave me.

“Walks are enjoyable. I get to go on one walk a day and I behave myself on leash. I can do stairs and stay alone in the house when my family leaves. I appreciate a potty break about every 4 hours but I can hold it a little longer if I have to. I am a very lovable boy and am ready to share my love with someone who can and will keep me for the rest of my days.”
