12-year-old Lucky sounds like a wonderful old dog! Described as “very kind, loyal, and obedient”.  Lucky is an 85 pound mixed breed boy. His family says he is a shepherd-lab mix. It sounds like Lucky gained all of the best traits of each breed!

Lucky truly loves his people and those he gets to meet as well. He has lived with another dog and has been well-socialized with other dogs. Lucky appreciates gentle children who want to give him pets. Cats seem to make Lucky uncomfortable.

If one must leave the house, Lucky is fine to stay alone. Of course time should be allowed for Lucky to settle into his new home before leaving him for too long a time.  Adjustments vary with each dog. Lucky certainly sounds adaptable. He has lived with his current people for 2 years after his person passed away. Now it’s time for Lucky to find a true forever home, a home he will never lose.

We are told Lucky can manage quite a while between potty breaks. He is not much of a barker at all. Lucky is mostly quiet unless he sees a deer in the yard. Lucky has always been a dog who spends his time indoors, only going outside to potty. Lucky sleeps in his family’s bedroom at night on his own bed. He is a very smart, eager to please dog who will give you a paw shake before receiving a treat.

Lucky is said to be OK on a leash, he thoroughly enjoys walks on nice days. Exercise is so important for old dogs! Lucky has some arthritis but he can still manage some stairs if he must. Our advice would be a home for Lucky without too many stairs, especially as time goes on, it could be more difficult for him to manage. His people have stairs for him to get into the back of their vehicle. Currently Lucky takes vitamins and Cosequin to help his joints. One should plan on getting him into the vet upon adoption for a senior vet check-up. Lucky is up to date on his vaccines but an overall exam would be helpful to start his journey for his best health.

Surely Lucky is going to make a terrific addition to any home.  We imagine him as a family dog or a companion dog for a single person. Lucky has so much love and devotion to offer!
