Violet – Adoption Pending

Violet is a lovely, petite, 8-year-old doodle. What is a doodle, you ask? That means she is a poodle mix; we are told Violet is a 25-pound Australian Labradoodle.

This girl is a sensitive soul. She can be unsure when meeting new people or if she hears unfamiliar sounds. Her reaction is to hide, going to her safe space. Violet needs a home where patience and compassion will be shown. Once she comes around, she is a very loyal companion.

Violet lived with another dog up until recently. Since her canine pal has moved, she’s become a little more unsure about what is happening. Don’t you wish we could explain our lives to dogs? Her family has been giving her medication for anxiety that she had previously been weaned off of. Violet is friendly with dogs once she’s given time to get to know them. Her best match could be with an older, calm dog who won’t push her to interact but, through example, show her how a dog can find contentment. While she’s never lived with a cat, she has shown no reaction to them. Because she is a shy girl, she does best with kids aged 10 and over.

Violet has never been left alone for a full workday. Her family tells us she’d do best with someone who works from home or with someone who is retired. She enjoys snoozing in her bed under her person’s desk while they work. When she needs to “hold it”, she does. It has been said that Violet has never had an accident. However, one should always give a dog grace regarding house training when they move into a new home.

While she does not expect a lot of exercise, Violet sounds like she’s good on leash and can enjoy short walks. One should ease her into this, though, as she can be nervous about new outings. Reading about this girl makes us think what a reward it will be to help Violet gain some confidence! A home with a fenced yard would be nice for potty time and exploring at her own pace. She can currently manage taking stairs without an issue.

Not only is Violet beautiful, but she is smart too. She has trained herself to alert her people to treat and medication time (her Zoloft) at 9 pm every night! She is not much of a barker at all, and she does not shed!

Violet will do best in a calm, quiet environment. She sounds like a gentle girl who will shine once she has been given the time to acclimate to her move. A dog like Violet should not be forced to move again; she needs and deserves the security of a committed, loving adopter.
