“Why Hello! My name is Toby. I am a border collie. I am 9 years old and I weigh about 75 pounds. I am in need of a new home, one with someone who is active and would like a running or walking buddy. I am a loving boy who is loyal and protective of my people-but not in a scary, aggressive way. I am smart and would benefit from someone who has the time and desire to train me to be the best dog ever. We could have so much fun together!

“I have lived with other dogs in the past and I do fine when meeting new dogs as long as they don’t get in my face. If you have a dog already and think I could join your family too, let’s meet in a neutral spot and walk together. This is always a nice way to introduce dogs to each other. I live with a kitty now. She stands her ground me, puts up with no monkey business but if you have a cat at home who will run away from me, I’ll probably try to chase it! As a border collie, I have a strong instinct to herd. This could include small children! A home with older kids would be best for me.

“My ideal home would be one where there’s a fenced yard to roam around and play in. A home where neighbors aren’t close enough to be bothered by barking is ideal. I wouldn’t say I’m a serial barker but I will bark at the mailman or loud noises or when someone is at the door. As I mentioned, a home with someone who can work on some training for me would be best. I do pull while on leash so that’s something I should learn to be better at. I can handle stairs with no problem. I have been good to stay home alone without any issues. I can manage quite a while before I require a potty break. That’s not my favorite thing to have to do though-really, who likes to hold it for a long time? But I will when needed. I just hang out on my dog bed when you leave or I wait by the door for you to return.

“Of course moving to a new home means I will need time to adjust. I have lived with my current family for 4 years, they adopted me from a shelter. They’ve been great to me but can no longer afford to care for me. They are very sad to have to give me up. But they really want to help me find my true forever home.

“I make my people laugh and smile with the funny things I do. I love to play with a soccer ball . I am an acrobat jumping for sticks. I bunny hop through tall grass in search of moles. I am a spry guy with so much life in me! So if you are looking for a fun, furry friend and you can afford to commit to me for life, maybe I’m just what you have been waiting for?”
