Bella

This gorgeous girl’s name is Bella. She is a 12-year-old “gray” Labrador retriever. We are told that she is “technically a diluted chocolate lab”. She is a petite girl, weighing around 65 pounds. Bella is described as a “very sweet, mild-mannered dog”.

Bella is looking to be someone’s one and only dog. While she has lived with other dogs, she would not want to do that again. Bella does not like cats! However, she has been a very good girl with gentle and respectful children.

Currently, Bella has done fine staying home alone during the day alone. She hangs out in the family living room. Bella has lived with her family since she was a puppy. Of course, with her move, she should be given time to acclimate to a new home and new schedule. She can manage quite a few hours between potty breaks and does very little barking. Bella barks only to alert people or dogs “too close” to her home.

Bella does not use stairs in her home. Her owners are unsure if she is able to climb them. They tell us she has some arthritis. At this time, she does not take anything for her joints. We recommend joint support supplements for seniors, especially when they are showing any sign of arthritis. Bella’s new family should be willing and able to provide veterinary care and good-quality dog food for her. As often happens in a dog her age, her hearing is no longer as sharp as it once was. But she’s a LAB! They use their noses very well!

A home where she can receive more attention, including more walks, would make Bella very happy. We are told she will pull on leash, so one should be able to manage her size and strength. Some harnesses can help manage a dog who pulls on leash. Bella loves to play fetch and will do so until you make her stop to take a break.

At bedtime, Bella sleeps in her crate. She knows many verbal commands. Bella is protective of her people. She enjoys receiving pets and affection. Bella is a very loyal girl who deserves a home with the attention she has been missing since her family’s dynamics have changed.
