Described as an “energetic senior”, Bella is a petite, 37-pound pitbull who is between 9 and 10 years old. Bella is an intelligent, loving girl with an adorable underbite.

Bella currently lives with another dog. We are told she can be appropriately social with other dogs her size, not smaller dogs, with proper introductions and smart integration. Bella has not lived with cats, but she reacts to those she sees, so she needs a feline-free home. Bella can be quite rambunctious, getting excited and mouthy sometimes; her owners believe she should not join a family with children.

Bella will do best with an experienced dog owner. She will thrive in a calm, predictable home. A home with a secure fence is a must. Daily walks and time to play ball will be a must for Bella. She is an active girl who needs her exercise. We are told that Bella has done well with training; she knows a number of commands. Bella is food-motivated and enjoys learning and practicing new commands. It sounds as though more training would be beneficial for Bella and her new people. Bella can pull and bark at barking dogs behind fences while she is on a walk (not unusual for any dog). This means her walker should be able to manage her strength.

When the humans leave the house, Bella has been fine to stay alone. She has had the company of another dog, so once she makes friends, that could be helpful for Bella as she learns the new routine in her adoptive home. Bella barks at delivery drivers and when the doorbell rings. She will also join in when she hears another dog bark. Bella can manage a few hours between potty breaks. She can manage stairs without issue.

Bella’s adopter should be willing and able to commit to her lifelong veterinary care and good-quality dog food. She does have a food allergy to poultry that is kept under control through diet and allergy shots she has received twice a year.

With time given to acclimate to a new home, Bella will prove herself to be a loyal and affectionate companion.
