Bellatrix, otherwise known as Bella, is an 8 year old, 17 pound mixed breed girl. Her blend of schnauzer, dachshund and chihuahua give her a unique, adorable look.

Bella was adopted a few years ago from a rescue. She was a happy girl being her owner’s sole companion , but sadly, her owner has become ill and will not be able to come back home to give Bella the home she once had.  A caring friend has taken Bella into her home, but this is only a temporary home. Bella is in need of an adoptive home, and the hope is that she will find that home soon.

Currently, Bella is living with two other dogs. She gets along with both dogs but she can be a bit bossy.  A home with another could work with proper introductions and integration. Bella’s caregiver has never seen her around cats, but she does tell us that Bella HATES squirrels. Bella really seems to enjoy gentle children. She has met grade school children and appreciated their affection.

At this time, Bella can manage a few hours between potty breaks if she’s taken for a quick walk before her person leaves the house. During this time, Bella is crated. Though she willingly goes into the crate, she would no doubt like to spend less time in a crate. Bella does bark and cry when her caregiver leaves. For this reason, she needs a home where her barks and cries won’t upset neighbors. We are told she is usually quiet when her caregiver is home. She will join in the barking if the other dogs in the home start barking when someone comes to the door (totally normal dog behavior!).

Bella has been prone to itchy skin. Since coming to her current caregiver, frequent bathing has helped. Her caregiver says she is the easiest dog she has ever groomed. It will be important for her adopter to continue with her care, a veterinarian could advise what would be best to help her with her itchy skin. Bella deserves an adopter committed to providing her with regular veterinary care and good-quality food for the rest of her life.

This girl has spunk! She would thrive in a home with someone who can get her out for regular walks. Bella can manage stairs without issue. Her caregiver told us she has been known to chew through thin leashes. One must be attentive to Bella, and we bet she will reward your attention with devotion and love. Bella has proven herself to be a wonderful dog buddy.

Not only is Bella a loyal girl, she is also very smart. Bella sounds like a delightful little dog who loves to sit in a lap, and she is described as a terrific cuddler. If she is given the chance, she would love to be a “velcro dog” again as she was for her former owner.

Bella is located in Renton, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org
