Buddy is an adorable chocolate lab mix who weighs 45 pounds. He is guessed to be about 10 years old. Buddy was taken to the shelter by the friend of his late owner. He was distraught in that environment and confused. Shelter staff recognized how sad Buddy was and asked Rebecca’s Rainbow Rescue if a home could be found for him. Rebecca’s Rainbow happily took him into care and he received full medical care and was put up for adoption through the rescue.

Seeing what an appealing dog Buddy was, he was adopted by a loving family. He did wonderfully with all of the dogs and cats in the household until he settled in. According to the person that dropped him off at the shelter, he had been raised with cats and did fine with cats the rescue “cat tested” him with. At the 2 month mark of adoption, he began to show signs of aggression with that cats that could not be overcome. To keep the cats in the home safe, with great regret and sadness, Buddy came back into the care of Rebecca’s Rainbow.

The ideal home for Buddy would be one where someone is home most of the day or with someone who can send him to doggy day care. Buddy should have a home with a fenced, secure yard. Of course a cat-free home and one without small children (not that any issues have been seen with him and kids have been observed) is what Buddy is hoping for.

Buddy is described as a wonderful, affectionate, active dog who is smart, alert and mindful. He’s just got a bit of prey drive in him; one cannot hold that against him! He just needs to find the right home. The reward of giving a dog like Buddy his forever home will surely be sweet.

Buddy is a cross post for Rebecca’s Rainbow. He is in one of their foster homes located in Kirkland, WA.

This is not an ODH dog; we urge prospective adopters to do their own evaluation.
