Clara

Old Dog Haven receives daily calls about unadoptable senior dogs in need of new homes. We were heartbroken to hear of a five-pound Maltese that was left in a crate and abandoned in a parking lot.   A note had been taped to the outside of the crate that read, “I need a home, please take me!”  We cannot imagine the confusion and fear she must have experienced when she lost her home and was left alone in an unfamiliar place.

Luckily, a kind person brought her to a nearby shelter and staff reached out to Old Dog Haven in hopes of finding her a safe, permanent home. Like so many of the senior dogs we take into our organization, Clara had gone without proper medical care for too long. She was suffering from dry eye, an ear infection, damaged knees and was missing most of her teeth.

Thanks to your donations, Clara will finally receive medical care. Her dry eye is currently being treated with daily medicated drops, and she will soon be scheduled for a dental procedure to remove her remaining affected teeth.

We hope Clara will now have some of her best days ahead of her. She has the stability of a home she’ll never lose, along with access to excellent veterinary care for the rest of her life. She’s a cherished member of the family, and her foster mom says she’s the perfect houseguest. She is a friendly, independent little lady who loves to be near people and gets along perfectly with her Old Dog Haven foster sibling, Journey. It brings us so much joy to know that Clara’s days will now be spent surrounded by love and comfort, knowing she is finally home.
