Cooper
Loves exercise and being active
Cooper is an 8 year old Border Collie mix who weighs 38 pounds. What a good-looking dude!
Cooper is a young senior; he needs an adopter who can get him out for daily exercise. Cooper would love a home with a fenced yard. This boy needs a secure place to roam and less traffic noise to bother him.
While Cooper has never lived in a home with other dogs, we are told he has done well at doggy daycare. During walks on leash, he does get excited, as many dogs do. Proper introductions and mindful integrations into a home with another dog will set Cooper up for a successful adoption. Cooper has not lived with cats. He has been good with respectful children aged 12 and older.
Currently, Cooper lives in an apartment, which does not suit him at all. The noise of traffic, people talking and passing by, even the noise of planes, has made him anxious. For his anxiety he takes Fluoxetine, which has helped relax him to be more confident. It could be that with time in a different environment, Cooper would not need the medication, but one would want to consult their veterinarian and at least at the start, plan that the medication was needed. It could certainly help him adjust with his move.
Cooper is said to be GREAT on leash. Cooper needs daily exercise! Walks and time to play fetch with the ball are a must for Cooper. He needs to stay active. Cooper is described as being well behaved, knowing what belongs to him, and that he must not eat or bother articles that are not his. Good boy, Cooper! He knows many verbal commands and loves to learn. What a fun dog! Cooper makes people laugh when he meets them by scooting up to them while seated to get their attention.
When he must be left alone, he does well inside his home in a smaller area with his food, water, and toys, or he will sit and bark at the door. Cooper manages quite a few hours between potty breaks. As we always mention, it is important to allow a dog time to settle into a new home and routine before leaving them for long hours. Cooper has had the same person since he was a puppy. It will be an adjustment for him to move, but he sounds like such a great dog who will make one’s time and compassion well worth the effort.
