Dexter
Now a happy boy!
Please note: The dogs in ODH's Final Refuge care are not adoptable due to medical reasons and all are in permanent homes. Your sponsorship supports the veterinary expenses for these dogs - and we thank you!
Dexter is a delightful fellow who lost his home due to his owner’s illness. Here is what his foster mom has to say:
“Dexter came to live with Ginny Bug (my resident dog) and me. He had spent some time living alone (with someone coming in to feed him) so he was somewhat shut down after his arrival. He would eat in the bedroom at first rather than wtih my other dog. As I slowly enticed him down the hall and into the kitchen, he gradually learned to trust me. Then for about 2 weeks he had separation anxiety but that subsided after a month.
Now little Dexter is a happy boy! He loves everyone he meets, including other dogs. He is a cuddler and loves to be near people. He and Ginny Bug get along great, but he is reluctant to play with her.
Dexter has gotten bed privileges which he now he shares with Ginny. She has one side of me and Dexter the other. I’m the “neutral zone”. Ha!
Dexter occasionally has tummy trouble but was recently started on a hydrolyzed diet, a change from his previous low fat i/d diet. He recently started pancreatic enzymes as well, and his tummy troubles and incessant licking have improved greatly!
This boy is very smart and funny and I am so glad he has joined the family. Below there is a picture of extra hairy Dexter with long hair and wild eyebrows.
