“Hi, My name is Espee and I am a tennis ball addict. We Rat Terriers are know for our energy level and playful personalities and I am true to my heritage. However, as a slightly more mature lady, I also really value good cuddles and sleeping on the bed with my human.

“I have lived all my life with my sister who has always bullied me. Now I am ready to strike out on my own without being bossed around all the time. While I don’t mind having other dogs in my foster home, I am timid with them because of how my sister treated me and would do best as either an only dog or with a non-bossy canine companion.

“My foster humans say that when I get excited about playing, I forget to be gentle and have nipped them. Because of this, I need a family without young children. No one has ever really worked with me on tricks or training, but I am smart and extremely food motivated so you can help me learn. Contrary to the saying, we older dogs are great at learning new tricks.

“When the other dogs in the house start barking I do join in. But I am not much of a barker and have never been the first to bark in my foster home.

“At 17 lbs. with really long legs for chasing balls, I am small enough to not steal the entire bed, but large enough to not feel fragile.”
