Essie
Easy-going sweetheart
Sweet Essie needed a new home after a child in her family developed allergies. When she came into Old Dog Haven care, she was sad and despondent as she was missing her family of 12 years and had no idea why her life was changing so drastically. Lucky for Essie, she found the perfect home to welcome her and make her whole again: an ODH Final Refuge family of two other ODH dogs, a resident senior dog, and four cats!
Essie’s mom tell us that she knew she had room for one more senior and was particularly looking for one that would fit with her ODH dog Jo, a very active little Chihuahua. She says, “It has been a perfect match! Essie did well through her first intake visit and tomorrow goes to get her dental. I am so grateful that ODH exists to care for older dogs that would not be able to get the care they need or perhaps even live due to age and health issues.”
Now that low-keyed Essie’s feeling more comfortable and cared for, she is slowly becoming more playful. She loves to be outdoors, loves to go for walks, and loves exploring her large backyard. Her mom tells us that she isn’t really fond of the rain but…we do live in the Pacific Northwest after all. “I am blessed to have her and love being her Final Refuge home. There are never any dull moments!”
Update: Sadly, little Essie’s foster mom had to say goodbye to her. Everyone is very sad about it, but we know Essie was well loved and well cared for to the very end.
