Jack and Sammie
Great family members
Jack and Sammie are gorgeous 10-year-old siblings who are hoping to remain together in a home. Jack is a male brindle boxer; he weighs about 65 pounds. Sammie is a female brindle boxer; she weighs 55 pounds.
The pair have lived with other dogs in the past. However, we are told they are not especially welcoming when meeting new dogs. It sounds as though a home without other dogs would be best. We imagine they must think that they have each other; they don’t need anyone else! For a short time, they lived with a cat they were kept away from. Once the cat was in the same room, they ignored the cat. Sammie and Jack have been GREAT with kids.
At this time, the siblings can stay together alone in their house, though they have been known to get into the garbage if it is left out. Jack and Sammie can manage a while between potty breaks. When their person is home, they enjoy going in and out of the house into a fenced yard as they please. Sammie and Jack will let you know when someone is at the door by barking. Aside from that, they are reportedly not barky dogs.
Walking these two together could be a workout. You must be able to handle their size and strength or have another person along to take one dog. Jack and Sammie will pull on leash out of excitement, and they will lunge at other dogs when they see them. This is all very typical dog behavior! Some training classes could help, as well as harnesses that inhibit pulling. Sammie and Jack can still manage stairs. We are told they like to play fetch but they do tire quickly. One could consider providing them with joint health support supplements to help them stay moving well. Jack and Sammie are current on vaccinations, but neither dog has had recent lab work or a urinalysis. Jack’s left eye is a little cloudy, but it does not seem to affect his vision at this time. One should plan on providing each dog with regular, lifelong veterinary care and good quality dog food.
These siblings and best friends are said to be “sweet, good listeners, who love to play”. While their person says they’ll consider separating them, they would rather find a home for them together if possible.
