“Hello! My name is Joey. I find myself in need of a new home. Are you looking for a forever friend to share your life with?  I am 11 years old. They say that makes me a senior dog but I don’t feel like a senior. I am an adorable mix of shih tzu and terrier. I weigh 19 pounds. I like walks, cuddling and watching DOGTV or nature shows when my people leave the house.

“I have lived with other dogs in the past and done fine with them.  I prefer dogs of my own size or smaller to hang out with; big dogs intimidate me. I need a home without cats and without any children under 12 years old.

“I am used to having one of my people around the house most of the time but I am fine to stay alone as needed, as long as you leave the T.V. on for me. In my current home I have a dog door that leads out to a dog run I can use to do my business. When my people come home I greet them with great joy!  While they are out I leave my toys by the front door so that I can grab them in my excitement upon their return.

“I do this thing that people giggle at that they call “polar bear” as I stand on my butt for tummy rubs.  In the morning I  “swim” on the bed  and throw my head up, making a playful kind of growl.  I love mornings but if you don’t, I will try hard to help you smile! I like all kinds of health treats, fruits and veggies as well as non-fat Greek yogurt. I am sensitive about certain sounds, loud noises or when people shake plastic bags.

“I can climb stairs and walk beautifully on a leash. My family has inside dog houses for me to sleep in at night and sometimes I like to climb into one during the day; my people call it “my cave”. I bet my people will be happy to let me bring those along in my move to my new home.

“My family will share my medical information with you. They have done well about keeping me regularly vetted. I do have a small liver so for that I am on a special diet. My adopter should be able to afford this food and keep up to date on regular check ups that will include at least yearly blood work.

“I’d like to think there’s someone out there that will appreciate all I have to offer. I am not only handsome but fun and funny. Once I get settled into my new home, I hope to be as happy as I can ever be and I hope to make my new people feel that way too!”

Joey is located in Sedro Woolley, WA. For contact information please email: referrals@olddoghaven.org
