Kona – Red Heeler/Great Pyrenees Mix
Loving and cuddly
Beautiful Kona is a 63-pound Red Heeler/Great Pyrenees mix. She is guessed to be about 10 years old. Kona is described as being ” very loving and cuddly”.
Kona is looking to find a home where she is the one and only pet in the home. This means no other dogs and no cats. She would rather not share her space with young children. Toddlers make her understandably nervous. Kona is said to be great with older kids; we would suggest age 10 and up.
In her current home, Kona is fine to stay alone when she needs to. She hangs out in the house and can manage a few hours between potty breaks. Kona loves to sleep in the bed with her people. During the day, she will hang out with her people when they are home. She will bark to let you know someone has arrived or if she hears other dogs barking (typical times for a dog to bark!).
Kona can be reactive to having her nails trimmed or groomed. An easy fix for that is the muzzle she wears without issue during those times. We find that it often helps with many dogs and is nothing to be surprised or bothered by.
As one would expect, Kona has had minor joint pain. She was prescribed an anti-inflammatory medication. She is not currently taking it, but it is something to keep in mind; she may need it, and one should be able to provide that for her. Kona needs a home with someone who can commit to her lifelong veterinary care and all that will help give her the best quality of life. We are told she can take stairs at this time.
Kona is great on leash and appreciates 2-3 short walks a day. It is such a delight to walk a dog who is well-mannered. We firmly believe that walking a dog can help you develop a strong bond. Kona is playful. She enjoys playing games of fetch and tug. When you are done playing, she will curl up with you. Kona sounds like a very nice girl who will make a terrific addition to her new home.
