“Hello! My name is Max. I am hoping to find a new home soon. I’ve been staying at a boarding facility because my elderly human became unable to care for me. I was with him since I was a puppy, so one could say my life has drastically changed now that I have lost him and my home. Everyone here is very nice, but I am longing for a real home with someone who will commit to me for the rest of my days.

“I am an 11.5 year old Pekingese. I weigh about 20 pounds. My human took good care of me, I saw a vet regularly. Continued vet care and grooming as needed is a must!  This will keep me comfortable and hopefully, around for some time to come. At this time I can still manage stairs but those can become harder for my breed as we age. We have these funny short legs and longer bodies that can make stairs difficult.

“I have lived with other dogs in the past. I am appropriately social with dogs when I meet them. I will meet them and mostly mind my own business after proper introductions. I lived with cats for many years. It has been a long time since I have been around young kids. In my senior years, I’d prefer a home with kids that are old enough to understand “gentle” and will be respectful of me.

“Currently I am spending a lot of time in a small space. Before I came to the boarding facility, I would sleep in the laundry room in my kennel. I’d prefer a home where this isn’t the case. While I am not super active, I do like room to stretch my legs and even play! I enjoy short walks. While I’ve never had any formal training, I pride myself in walking well on leash. My life has been pretty sedentary but I believe old dogs can learn to enjoy more activity!

“A potty break every few hours is appreciated. No one likes to “hold it” for too long! I have been OK to stay home without issue, but please give me time to settle into my new home before leaving me for too long. My ideal home is one where someone works part-time or from home or is a new retiree who is happy to have a furry companion. I don’t bark much, but I will if I see “wildlife” outside. I’m just trying to alert you!

“I am described as ” an easy-going, lovable, laid-back and happy boy”. People often smile when they meet me. I can do that for YOU too! I’m ready to go to my new home now. Will you help me find it?”
